6th Warsaw Climate Talks: Electricity storage in the energy transition in Poland and Germany

Warsaw Climate Talks” is a series of public events held at the German Embassy in Warsaw dedicated to promoting action against climate change, on topics ranging from energy policy to
environmental and agricultural policy. The events are organized in cooperation with well-known Polish NGOs with expertise on climate-related policies and industry associations, with strong
engagement from public administration representatives from Poland and Germany. The events gather approx. 80 participants, such as high-level representatives of the Polish and German
government, experts from relevant Polish and German ministries, MPs, business community, think tanks, academia, and media.

The upcoming edition of “Warsaw Climate Talks” on electricity storage in Poland and in Germany will be organized in cooperation with the Polish Energy Storage Association PSME.

The next “Warsaw Climate Talks” will focus on the role of electricity storage in the energy transition and the importance of developing the battery industry in Europe. The topic addresses the growing needs of the power system resulting from the increasing share of renewable energy sources, as well as challenges related to investment, safety, regulation, and the development of a European value chain. By stabilizing energy systems in Poland and Germany increasingly more based on renewable energy (over 29 % of electricity production in Poland and 59 % in Germany in 2025), electricity storage will be a key component of the energy transition, leading to increased energy security, lower GHG emissions and contributing to climate protection.

Thematic scope
• Climate and the energy transition: the role of electricity storage in accelerating renewable integration, reducing emissions, and strengthening the flexibility and stability of the power system.
• Polish-German cooperation: exchange of experience and good practice on regulation,safety standards, grid planning and market mechanisms, with a view to identifying potential joint initiatives.
• Economic competitiveness: the impact of energy storage and the development of the battery industry on transition costs, supply chain resilience, innovation, jobs and investment attractiveness in Poland and Germany.
